Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research: Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Cultural Competency Item Set

The Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research (AHRQ) has developed this Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Cultural Competency Item Set as a potential supplement to the Adult Clinician and Group Survey.  The items include measures on:

  • Patient-provider communication
  • Complementary and alternative medicine
  • Experiences of discrimination
  • Experiences leading to trust or distrust
  • Interpreter services

This item set is still undergoing validation and review and has yet to be widely adopted or implemented.
