Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services: 89 New Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations

On December 22, 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced 89 new Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) that begin operations on January 1, 2015, bringing the total number of active Medicare ACOs to 405, covering 7.2 million Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.  These 89 new ACOs have operations in every one of the 50 states except Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Vermont.
