Along with its announcement of the selection of 32 Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) has published the details for the “alignment” (assignment) of Medicare beneficiaries to the ACOs, and for benchmarking and calculation of shared savings by the ACOs. These program details are consistent with the changes made in the final regulations for the Medicare Shared Savings Program, also to begin in 2012.
The CMMI also has released the details for two alternate methodologies for sharing risks and savings available to the Pioneer ACOs.
