The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) has created a comprehensive toolkit for community advocates to use to plan and conduct public education and gain media coverage of the upcoming first year anniversary of the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2011.  The toolkit includes easy-to-use planning documents and samples of an op-ed and a media advisory.   The toolkit also includes useful guides on lobbying rules and leveraging social media to publicize events, as well as documenting (with photos and video) and evaluating any activities.  Additional supporting materials, including “birthday cards” to send to policymakers to support the national health care reform law, are available on APIAHF’s website.  While APAIHF seeks primarily to engage its Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community partners and constituents, the toolkit can be used by all communities to plan events to support the national health care reform legislation.
