This tool from the American Medical Group Association assesses whether an organization is ready to become an accountable care organization (ACO). Predictably, the tool places greater emphasis on physician leadership of an ACO than other assessment tools or ACO models. The assessment examines the following topics:
- Organization as physician-led multispecialty group practice or other physician-led organized system of care
- Accountability for clinical results and cost efficiency in care, prevention, and wellness of population served
- Primary care core supported by appropriate specialties and practice teams
- IT infrastructure that supports efficient and effective practice, and tracks and reports on cost and quality of care
- Capability of coordination care across all settings
