California Pan-Ethnic Health Network: Medi-Cal Expansion – What’s At Stake for Communities of Color

This updated fact sheet from the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) describes the impact of the expansion of Medicaid in California under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  CPEHN estimates that 67% of the 1.4 million Californians eligible for expanded Medicaid will be persons of color (48% will be Latino).  And 35% will speak English less than very well.  CPEHN recommends strategies to maximize the outreach to and enrollment of these eligible Californians into health insurance coverage through expanded Medicaid eligibility.
