The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued this comprehensive response to the findings and recommendations of the 2011 Institute of Medicine’s report, The Health of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: A Foundation for Better Understanding.
NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins also issued a statement to accompany the response.
Finally, the NIH has published its plan for advancing research on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health, including continuing an trans-NIH LGBT Research Coordinating Committee to coordinate the research activities of all the NIH institutes, centers, and offices on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health.
