Beginning in 2010, the Veterans’ Administration has provided a single “blue button” download capability for veterans to obtain an electronic copy of their personal health information through the VA’s personal health record, MyHealtheVet.

This capability is being viewed as a standard for other electronic health record systems to make personal health information accessible to patients and health care consumers.
