In a notice released today, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is extending the application deadlines for the Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), which it announced on May 17. Today’s notice reads:
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Innovation Center are committed to working with stakeholders to develop initiatives that help to improve the quality of care available to CMS beneficiaries. Being responsive to the suggestions of the stakeholder community is critical to the success of the Innovation Center’s efforts to achieve the three aims of better healthcare, better health, and reduced costs through improvement.
As part of this commitment, and based on the feedback from the community of potential applicants, the Innovation Center is modifying two deadlines relating to the Pioneer ACO Model. Last month, the Innovation Center released a Request for Applications (RFA) on this model:
Letters of Intent will now be due on Thursday, June 30. The previous deadline was Friday, June 10.
Applications must be postmarked on or before Friday, August 19. The previous deadline was Monday, July 18.
