The Joint Commission has finalized its standards for accreditation of Primary Care Medical Homes, as part of of its accreditation of ambulatory care organizations. The Primary Care Medical Homes will be an optional, additional module in its ambulatory care accreditation program and will be ready to receive applications beginning July 2011. Curiously, the Joint Commission had called the standards ones for “Primary Care Homes” but changed the term to “Primary Care Medical Homes” in the final standards.
