The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has announced its intent to contract with RTI International to survey 300 physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives who serve Medicaid beneficiaries regarding their barriers to the adoption and use of electronic health records (EHRs.). An additional 89 clinicians will be recruited to participate in focus groups. The research is intended to inform Stage 2 and Stage 3 requirements for EHR incentive payments from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as to identify potential technical assistance and other needs to facilitate the participation of Medicaid providers in the CMS EHR incentive program. Comments are due by March 21, 2011.
