The Office of National Coordinator for Health IT Policy Committee has released draft Stage 3 requirements for meaningful use incentive payments under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The Policy Committee seeks public comments on the draft by December 21, 2012. The Policy Committee will then finalize its recommendations to the National Coordinator and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which will then issue proposed regulations for additional public comment. Given the delayed effective date of Stage 2 requirements to January 2013, the earliest that Stage 3 requirements would be effective would be January 2014.
