This issue brief from Grantmakers in Health outlines strategies that foundations and other private funders are using to address disparities in health care and in health status. Among the strategies identified are funding for:
- Data collection
- Health care and public health workforce
- Behavioral economics
- Early childhood interventions for at-risk youth
- Place-based interventions
- Housing mobility
The report also recommends that funders engage in self-assessments on equity issues, leverage public-private partnerships, reach outside the health sector for funding partners, seek to influence policy changes, and support democratic participation and civic engagement more broadly.
