The California Health Care Foundation announced today that its founding President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Smith, MD, MBA, will step down from his position at the end of 2013.  Dr. Smith has led the foundation since its establishment in 1996.  The foundation’s annual grantmaking is approximately $37 million.  The foundation’s board of directors is conducting the search for Dr. Smith’s successor.
